INTRAMUROS MANNILA
Intramuros is Manila's oldest neighborhood. It was a fortified city during the Spanish Colonial Period to protect against any invasion and is known as the "Walled City." It is then located along Manila Bay, south of the Pasig River's mouth.
Intramuros is the best place to go especially with my family. You will find many beautiful old houses which reflect the past. This place is very important historically and I am honored to go to that place specially to appreciate things, the things to come next may just be a record.
THE LUNETA PARK
Luneta Park in Manila is one of the largest parks in Southeast Asia. It covers nearly 58 hectares. It was known as Bagumbayan during the Spanish period. It served as an execution site for Filipino insurgents. This was also the site of Dr. Jose Rizal's execution.
Luneta Park is currently a place of recreation and relaxation. It includes playgrounds, fountains, lovely gardens, historical markers, plazas, food kiosks, restaurants, an observatory, and an open-air concert hall.
FORT SANTIAGO
Fort Santiago is a defense fortress built for the Spanish conquistador Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. This location was near the mouth of the Pasig River and was part of the Intramuros structures. Fort Santiago has been a witness to the events of the last 450 years. This fortress served as a deterrent to invading Moros, pirates, and British invaders. It was also here that Jose Rizal was imprisoned and sentenced to death. During WWII, Japanese soldiers used Fort Santiago as a prison for POWs. A worthwhile and fascinating place to visit and learn about the Philippines' history.
You'll be astounded at how it was constructed. The walls are 22 feet tall with an 8-foot thickness, and the entrance is 40 feet tall. During the Battle of Manila against the Japanese soldiers, American and Filipino mortars severely damaged Fort Santiago. However, the Philippine government took action to restore the Fort in the 1980s.
